We talked about my nonfiction books, Undesirable: The Vietnam War and a Father’s Battle for Justice (July 2026, University of New Mexico Press) and my book of memoirs, The Unruly Past (2021, Paint Creek Press). Both books, labors of love, testaments to family.

What a heart-warming and insightful interview! Mr. Abdo’s deep appreciation and enthusiasm for Laura’s work brought these two recent books of her’s to life.
I learned so much listening to this, about what loving persistence and tenacity can achieve; but also it was a welcome reminder of the power of community. We all have roots somewhere.
